The Africa Sustainable Insurance Summit brings together leaders and changemakers in Africa’s insurance industry to turn sustainability commitments into real action. The 2026 edition will focus on how insurers can drive climate resilience, innovation, and inclusive growth across the continent.
The Africa Sustainable Insurance Summit (ASIS) 2026 is the flagship event of the Nairobi Declaration on Sustainable Insurance (NDSI) a network of more than 270 members working to integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into Africa’s insurance industry.
Building on the success of the 2025 summit, the 2026 edition in Cape Town, South Africa, will bring together leaders from across Africa’s insurance industry ecosystem to explore how environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles can be integrated into the core business of Africa’s risk managers.
Under the overarching theme of “Powering pledge into practice integration of sustainability in the African insurance sector”, this flagship event will offer a platform to galvanise commitments and accelerate actions on sustainable insurance in Africa.
The key objectives of the summit are to build awareness and support for sustainable insurance principles, showcase the shift from intention to implementation and integration of sustainable insurance principles, and create a community of practice and offer spaces for networking among African insurance sector players.
Learn how African insurers are moving from commitment to implementing sustainability in the business. The summit spotlights practical progress, what is working, where challenges remain, and how the industry is closing insurance and
protection gaps.
Participate in hands-on workshops and breakout sessions designed for insurers at different stages of their ESG journey. From ESG integration lessons and IFRS S1 & S2 reporting, to urban resilience, sustainable investments, and insurance-linked securities, the participants will benefit from tools, real-world case studies, and actionable insights they can take back to their companies.
Connect with senior industry leaders, policymakers, and regulators shaping Africa’s
sustainable insurance agenda. ASIS 2026 creates space for peer-to-peer exchange to enable candid conversations on regulatory expectations, innovation, risk-sharing, and partnerships needed to drive sustainability in the insurance industry.
Position your company within leading frameworks like UNEP PSI, GFANZ, and
AFAC, and contribute to establishing an “African Voices” for sustainable insurance.
African insurance sector Africa’s insurance sector is at a turning point. Climate shocks are becoming more frequent and severe, while insurance coverage remains low, leaving millions exposed to risk. With global frameworks like IFRS S1 & S2 and TCFD gaining ground, African insurers are rethinking how they assess risk, invest capital, and design products that promote inclusion and resilience.
The Africa Sustainable Insurance Summit 2026 is designed as a practical forum to support this transition. Building on lessons from recent progress, the summit will showcase how insurers are operationalising ESG through strategy, regulation, innovation, and market development.
