The African Financial Alliance on Climate Change is a voluntary Pan-African coalition of financial institutions established by the African Development Bank in 2018 to engage Africa’s financial sector to de-risk and direct capital flows towards low-carbon and climate-resilient investments on the continent.
This event is expected to showcase the steps the African financial sector is taking to integrate climate considerations into their decision-making and identify opportunities the African financial sector coalition to advance to deliver the goals of the Paris Agreement, SDGs Agenda 2030 and Africa Agenda 2063.
This event will be organised the African Financial Alliance on Climate Change (AFAC) and its constituent member organisations. AFAC brings together major financial institutions such and African financial industry associations such as the Nairobi Declaration on Sustainable Insurance (NDSI) in collaboration with entities working towards greening the African financial system, including The African Development Bank (AfDB), The Global Centre for Adaptation (GCA), United Nations Environmental Programme – Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI), FSD Africa, and the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ).
