Albena Melin joined ZEP-RE as Director of Partnerships in September 2024, leading on the broader engagement work with external partners as well as on sustainability and impact.
A strategic executive with over 30 years of experience in inclusive economic growth, private sector solutions, development financing, impact investing and cross-sector partnerships. She has a very diverse background spanning across 30+ countries on 4 continents in the private sector, government, and multilateral space. She has demonstrated expertise leading multicultural, cross-functional teams and programs across emerging markets. Albena has worked on ESG and Sustainability since their very beginnings. She has been part of the SDG negotiations, implementing the Impact Principles, pioneering blended finance models to mobilize private capital for sustainable impact. Albena holds an MSc in International Institutional & Development Economics, with a focus on International Finance and Trade. A German and Swedish national, she has been raised in Eritrea and Ethiopia and can work in several languages.
