Sesilia is currently an Underwriting and Reinsurance Manager at Old Mutual Short-term Insurance Namibia, with extensive reinsurance experience gained from her previous role at Namibia’s National Reinsurance Company. She serves on the steering committee of the Nairobi Declaration on Sustainable Insurance, advocating for sustainable practices across Africa. Her notable contributions include presentations at UNEP’s Africa and Middle East roundtables on underwriting practices in Reinsurance to enhance resilience and business continuity. She has presented at Organisation of Eastern and Southern Africa Insurers (OESAI) multiples times on issues pertaining to Insurance globally. She is pursuing an MCom in Development Finance from the University of Cape Town, further deepening her expertise, focusing on the blended and innovative financing mechanisms to enable product development towards closing the protection gap. Outside of her professional endeavours, she enjoys playing golf, reading good books, and marvelling at sunsets. She is driven by a passion to contribute towards leaving the planet better for future generations to enjoy the calming beauty of African sunsets.
